In a rare case, a 30-year-old man from Texas in the USA died allegedly due to the novel coronavirus, that he contracted after going to a 'COVID-19' party hosted by an infected person. As heard from Jane Appleby who is the chief medical officer at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, the man assumed that the virus is a hoax, and believed that he was young and invincible to it. The heart-wrenching last words of the man to his nurse were, 'You know, I think I made a mistake.'
In a video broadcast by US media, Appleby said, "Young people don't really look sick. But when you check their oxygen levels and their lab tests, they're really sicker than they appear." She has exhorted young people to take the risks seriously and be prudent.
The novel coronavirus has killed more than 1,35,000 people in the United States so far. Besides, the medical fraternity is struggling to control the spread of the virus due to governmental ignorance to observe strict rules for the movement of the people in the US. The Trump administration has repeatedly been pressing to reopen schools in the fall, even though the number of infections is surging upwards. Many of them have come forward blaming young people for being careless and ignorant that has allegedly given rise to the number of cases. The record spike of a huge number of cases in Florida raises further questions on the inability of the government to quell the spread of the virus.
As of now, the United States of America has the largest number of cases and deaths.
