China raises warning against Kazakhstan's 'unknown pneumonia'

China has raised major concerns for its citizens in Kazakhstan regarding an 'unknown pneumonia', which reportedly has a high fatality rate, compared to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Media reports quoted the Chinese embassy's statement, "unknown pneumonia in Kazakhstan caused 1,772 deaths in the first six months of the year, including 628 (Chinese) people in June alone."

The warning put by Chinese embassy was denied by Kazakhstan, they said, its "fake news." As per the experts, there is no such evidence whether the 'unknown pneumonia' is related to coronavirus, however, Kazakhstan's health department has started studying the virus causing pneumonia.

China being extra vigilant, has warned its citizens residing in Kazakhstan to be extra careful of the disease and has requested the health ministry to take appropriate measure to contain the virus from spreading and prevent people from falling sick or succumbing to the disease.

Some media reports from Hong Kong quoted Kazakhstan's response to the warning raised by Beijing, China, that "The information published by some Chinese media regarding a new kind of pneumonia in Kazakhstan is incorrect."

Local media from Kazakhstan have reported, more than 500 people have contracted the virus and been sick since mid-June. The pneumonic disease has spread to three regions in Kazakhstan, according to sources.

On Wednesday, Kazakhstan's Health Minister said, the total count of patients infected by the unknown pneumonia is two to three times higher than the patients infected by COVID-19.
