Warriors, Tigers record easy wins

Pune: Kalate warriors recorded their second victory in the ‘Lions Premier League’ Twenty-20 Cricket Championship organised by Lions Club district 323 D-2 and  played at the Nehru Stadium ground, on Thursday.

Sourabh Ravalia was once again the hero for Kalate Warriors in their seven-wicket win over Rathod Royals. After winning the toss, Royals opted to bat first, and  put up 113/8 in their 20 overs with Hikant Kamdar’s 33 off 36 balls being the top score. Avinash Barne (2/32) and  Datta Shrungare (2/33) bowled well for the  Warriors to restrict Rathod Royals.

Chasing a modest, Ravalia scored more than half runs for his side, scoring 60 off 53 balls, laced with six fours and a six. He was well supported by Amit Jain’s 21  runs off 18 balls, as Kalate warriors chased down the target in 17.4 overs.

In the other match of the day, Dhomse Tigers registered their first win of the tournament, with 33-run over Shivneri Lions. Asked to bat first, Lions posted a score  of 153/6 in their 20 overs thanks to Vijay Kotwal’s quickfire 42 off 25 balls with six fours and valuable contributions by Rohan Ghatge (24), Shekhar Dalmiya (24),  Santosh Shah (22), and Sunil Kamthan (21).

In reply, Shivneri Lions were bowled out for 120 in the last over of teh match, with Sajan Modi top-scoring 31 off 17 balls, along with Sachin Jaywant’s 25. For  Dhomse Lions, Santosh Shah (2/17) and Vijay Kotwal (2/26) were pick of the bowlers.

Dhomse Tigers: 153 for 6 in 20 overs (Vijay Kotwal 42, Rohan Ghatge 24, Shekhar Dalmiya 24; Punit Balan 2/34) beat Shivneri Lions: 120 all out in 19.1 overs  (Sajan Modi 31, Sachin Jaywant 25; Santosh Shah 2/17, Vijay Kotwal 2/26).

Result: Dhomse Tigers won by 33 runs;
MoM: Vijay Kotwal (Dhomse Tigers);
 Rathod Royals: 113 for 8 in 20 overs (Hikant Kamdar 33, Sachin Kapade 21; Avinash Barne 2/32, Datta Shrungare 2/33) lost to Kalate Warriors: 116 for 3 in 17.4  overs (Sourabh Ravalia 60, Amit Jain 21; Mahavir Oswal 2/31). Results: Kalate Warriors won by 7 wickets;
MoM: Sourabh Ravalia (Kalate Warriors).
