Vijay, Amardeep and Vivek register hard fought wins

Pune: Vijay Nichani, Amardeep Godake, Vivek Mehtra scored hard fought victories against their respective opponents to enter the pre-quarter final round in the inaugural Sterlite Tech Cup India Open Snooker Championship, being played at The Q Club Tables, Viman Nagar on Friday.

Coimbatore cueist Vijay Nichani scored a 3-2 win over Ranveer Duggal of Chandigarh. Ranveer took the first frame by a margin of six points (58-52). Then onwards, It was all Vijay’s show as he rallied back strongly to clinch the next three frames 87-6, 77-4, 56-22.

Amardeep Godake of Cue Club also scored a hard fought 42-77, 47-20, 56-77, 66-17, 94-77 win over Sonu Matang in the best of five frame tussle. 

Vivek Mehtra scored an identical 3-2 win over Pinakee Banerjee of Kolkata.

Meanwhile national cueists Hasan Badami from Mumbai and Bharat Sisodia of Madhya Pradesh scored an easy victory over Anshul Dandekar and Pratiban B to ensure their place in the last 16.
