Vanshita shows Aaliya exit door

Vanshita Pathaniya rallied from a set down to beat wildcard Aaliya Ebhrahim 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in the pre-quarterfinal action at the $3000 FinIQ-ATT Asian Ranking Women’s Tennis championship organised by Navnath Shete Sports Academy in association with the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association at the Metrocity Courts in Kothrud on Thursday.

Pune: Vanshita Pathaniya rallied from a set down to beat wildcard Aaliya Ebhrahim 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in the pre-quarterfinal action at the $3000 FinIQ-ATT Asian Ranking Women’s Tennis championship organised by Navnath Shete Sports Academy in association with the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association at the Metrocity Courts in Kothrud on Thursday.

Another wildcard Bela Tamhankar continued her winning spree and scored a memorable win outplaying Arthi Muniyan 6-4, 6-3 to enter the quarterfinals. Tamhankar had upset second seeded Srinidhi Sridhar 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday. 

Top seeded Sai Samhitha Chamarthi thrashed Avika Sagwal 6-1, 6-2 in an exciting match. 

Riya Uboveja, Nidhi Chilumula, Soha Sadiq, Prathiba Narayan Prasad and Vaidehi Chaudhari were the other players to make it to the quarterfinals.
