Utkarsh Kreeda Mandal boys crowned champions

Pune: Utkarsh Kreeda Mandal defeated Chattrapati Shivaji, Alibaug 24-16 in the final of the Western Edition of Red Bull Tashan, a competitive Kabaddi tournament for players at college and club level which was held at Phoenix Market City on May 16.

Utsav Kreeda Mandal from Pune, Chattrapati Shivaji Alibaug and Rashtriya Sevak from Kolhapur representing the western region, played two matches each following the round robin format.

In the first match, Chattrapati Shivaji, Alibaug beat Rashtriya Sevak from Kolhapur 32-25 while Utkarsh Kreeda Mandal Pune beat Chattrapati Shivaji Alibaug 21-15 in the second match. In the third match, Utkarsh Kreeda Mandal beat Rashtriya Sevak from Kolhapur 32-23.

Speaking on the initiative, Kailash Kanpdal, CEO of Puneri Paltan said, “There is a tremendous growth in Kabaddi not just in terms of following but also participation, especially among the youth. Tournaments like Red Bull Tashan help in encouraging and nurturing the young talents at the grassroots level. Puneri Paltan and energy drink giant Red Bull share a common goal of improving the standards of Kabaddi in the country by scouting talent from the grassroots level and providing them exposure to showcase their talent. We would continue to encourage emerging talent to train with the team at our home stadium during the seventh edition of PKL.”
