St Anne’s girls clinch Under-14 title

Rachel D’Souza and Kaushiki Pawar strike as St Anne’s defeat Angel Mickey and Mini School 2-0

Pune: Rachel D’Souza and Kaushiki Pawar scored in either side of the break as St Anne’s High School defeated Angel Mickey and Mini School, 2-0 to win the Girl’s Under-14 title in the Inter-School Hockey tournament at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Thursday.

Rachel struck the opening goal in the very second minute of the match, while Angel Mickey and Mini girls tried their best to equalise but their efforts came unstuck, in the tournament organised by District Sports Council and Education Department of the PMC.

On changing ends, both the teams tried to find targets, but it was St Anne’s who increased their lead when Kaushiki struck in the 25th minute of the match. St Anne’s maintained the lead till the end of the match to claim the championship.
St Clare’s finish third

St Clare’s High School took the final place on the podium as they won the play-off for the third-place against Anglo Urdu Girls High School by walkover.

Anglo Urdu Girls High School sought permission to forfeit the match as their goalkeeper got injured in an earlier match.

St Anne’s High School 5 (Hussaina Clunita 2nd, 4th, 18th, Andrea 6th, Rachel D’Souza 19th) beat Anglo Urdu Girls High School 0.
Angel Mickey and Mini School 2 (Piyusha Narke 18th, Shravani Gore 19th) beat St Clare’s High School 1 (Siddhi Udekar 17th).
