St Andrews wins Fair Haven Trophy 

Pune: Bezan Chenoy schooled St Andrews, the progeny of Phoenix Tower and Machrihanish and bred at Manjri Stud Farm, pulled off a thrilling win over Gazino in the 1200 metres Fair Haven Trophy, a race for horses rated 80 and above, at the Pune Race course here on Saturday.

St Andrews, who won a race after a gap of exact 700 days, owed his victory to an opportunistic ride by Imran Khan, who managed to get the fancied runner make a decisive surge along the rails closer home.

The winner is owned by Shapoor P Mistry of Manjri Horse Breeders’ Farm and Dilip Thomas of Rajagiri Rubber and Produce Co. Ltd.

Meanwhile, Rhasody with jockey S Zervan steered to victory in the September Handicap-1600 metre race.

Neil Darashah’s Tenno Sho for Kolkata Derby

Neil Darashah’s Tenno Sho, which translates into Emperor of Japan, is expected to run away with the Kolkata Derby on Sunday. Tenno Sho was bred at Manjri Stud Farms, which will be represented by its CEO Sarosh Mody at Kolkata on Sunday.

Tenno Sho, the final entrant who had to cough up Rs 5.62 lakh for the Monsoon Derby may not disappoint his connections after all specially with Srinath in the saddle.

Tenno Sho will be up against the local favourite Trafalgar, who could be home favourite and provide a tough competition.
