Pune: Shrushti Haleangadi of Mumbai Suburban District earned a double crown as she overcame higher ranked opponents to win the Women’s and Youth Girls (Under-21) titles in the 49th Inter-district and 80th State table tennis championship at the Balewadi Sports Complex here on Monday.
The second-seeded Srushti was up against No 12 seed Mamata Prabhu in the women’s final, which she won after a remarkable comeback from three sets down. Srushti lost the first three sets 8-11, 7-11, 9-11 before she lifted her game and took the next four sets 11-7, 11-8, 11-8, 11-6. In the semifinals, Mamata had ousted top seed Senhora Dsouza 11-5, 11-4, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8 for an upset win.
In the Youth Girls final, third seeded Shrushti was up against top seed Anannya Basak and she triumphed 11-3, 13-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-7.
