Sandeep Mehta back in Indian Olympics

Pune: Seasoned sports administrator Sandeep Mehta has been called back into the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) fold at a crucial time when two important quadrennial sporting extravaganzas—2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia and 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta—are on the horizon.

Mehta had been a familiar figure in the IOA, whether it were the Olympics, Asian Games or the Commonwealth Games, had taken a sabbatical after the recently-ousted IOA President N Ramachandran took over four years ago.

The current IOA President, Narinder Dhruv Batra, who is also the president of the World hockey body, FIH, has appointed Mehta as Chief Public Relation Officer of the IOA with immediate effect.

Mehta, who works as the Physical Education Teacher in Delhi’s Dayal Singh College, will serve on the IOA on honorary basis, as he had done in the past.
