Saai and Shriyash turn on the style

Pune: Maharashtriya Mitra Mandal’s Saai Bagate and Shriyash Bhosale made light work of their opponents in the second round to make it to the next round of Sakal Schoolympics Table Tennis under 14 boys doubles event being played at Deccan Gymkhana here on Wednesday.

Saai and Shriyash thumped their opppoents Adarsh Menon and Akash Menon from the Bishop’s School Camp 11-1, 11-3 in a one-sided affair that barely lasted for 15 minutes.

They were joined in the third round by Divyansh Dhingra and Srinath Siriyala of the Daffodil International School, who beat Ameya Gawate and Nisarg Shah of Podar International School 11-5, 11-7 in a close contest.

In another match of the day, Dhruv Mandavkar and Ameya Mirashi of Daffodil High School beat Gaurav Hegde and Atharva Jadhav 10-12, 15-13 and 11-9 in a contest that swung either ways midway, but Dhruv and Ameya kept their nerve and raised their game at the pivotal moment to make it to the next round.

Aditya Apte and Atharva Bhandari of Abhinav English Medium School made it to the next round on the virtue of their 11-5, 11-5 thrashing of Aditya Joshi and Pushkar Kasat of Pawar Public School. 

The duo from Abhinav School showed their class when the chips were down and made it to the next round with 
minimum fuss.

In yet another match, Parth Gurjar and Soumil Paranjpay of Symbiosis School made it to the third round with a 11-2, 11-6 win over Arinjay Nair and Saksham Nerpagare of the Orbis School  with a 11-2, 11-6 one sided win in match, that lasted less than 15 minutes.
