Rajesh reigns supreme

Pune: Victory in the last round helped International Master IM Rajesh to clinch the first ‘Late Bharatbai Halkude Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament’ at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch on Friday.

Another player in fray for the trophy, GM Saptarshi, had to be content with the runners-up prize, as he was held to a draw by Pune player FM Sohan Phadke.

Rajesh and Saptarshi  were both playing with black pieces and comparatively, Rajesh had an edge having an easy opponent in Swaraj Palit.
