Pune Racing Season set to end with two heritage races

PUNE: The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) Pune will be hosting two iconic races at Pune Race Course on October 25 and 26.

Racegoers will be able to watch their favourite stallions battle it out for the winning prize during these two races. The General Rajendrasinhji Million  will be held on October 25 and the RWITC Ltd. Gold Trophy will be held on October 26.

GENERAL RAJENDRASINHJI MILLION
Date: October 25. 
This iconic race was introduced in 1967 in the memory of General Rajendrasinhji, G.O.C. in-C Southern Command. ‘Rajendrasinhji Cup’ was later renamed as The General Rajendrasinhji Million. 
With each horse carrying weights over 1600m, this sprint holds a vital place in horse racing.

RWITC LTD GOLD TROPHY
Date: October 26.
The RWITC Invitational Trophy (Gr.2), was first run on 22nd February 1976 as ‘The RWITC Diamond Jubilee Invitational Race’. 

This race was originally run in Mumbai and subsequently shifted to Pune. It achieved graded status in the year 1987.
