Pote scores 3 as Team Pune wins Junior Hockey title

PUNE: Host team took full advantage of home conditions as Parmeshwar Pote struck three after his skipper showed the way as Pune defeated Sangli 6-0 to lift the Maharashtra State Junior Hockey title at the Balewadi Sports Complex Stadium here on Wednesday.

On the final day of action, Pune opened early through Prajwal Moharkar (4th minute) before captain Saurabh Patil (6th) struck soon after to make it 2-0 before Pote picked the cue to bring about three goals interspersed in three different quarters.

Semifinals’ top scorer Aditya Rasala got one goal against his name as Pune rounded up the scoreline to 6-0.

KOLHAPUR WINS BRONZE
Earlier, two goals apiece from Guruprasad Shinde and Rohan Madhav saw Kolhapur beat Nandurbar 5-0 in the match for the third place. Guruprasad opened the scoring for Kolhapur in the 29th minute before Rohan Madhav came up with two back-to-back goals in a space of four minutes. Chandrakant Patil made it 4-0 in the 48th minute before Guruprasad slotted in his second for 5-0 verdict.

Pune 6 (Prajwal Moharkar 4th, Saurabh Patil 6th, Parmeshwar Pote 7th, 47th, 54th, Aditya Rasala 56th) beat Sangli 0.
Third-place play-off:
Kolhapur 5 (Guruprasad Shinde 29th, 53rd, Rohan Madhav 38th, 42nd, Chandrakant Patil 48th) beat Nandurbar 0.
