Pacers Finish On A High To Cap Off Exciting Weekend

Mumbai: After months of anticipation, the NBA India Games well and truly began on Friday, and in some style as Indiana Pacers pipped Sacramento Kings in a thrilling encounter and continued their good run with a second straight win on Saturday.

Kings too started like they did on Friday, taking an early lead, but Warren once again denied them with the first three-pointer of the game. Kings’ used some early momentum to finish the first quarter at 30-25.

The second quarter began with some smooth and electrifying play, with a hattrick of three-pointers, two from Pacers’ Alize Johnson. Pacers elevated their game and rushed 38-33 lead with just under four minutes played in the quarter.

The Kings stayed close but a last gasp basket from Pacers’ Edmond Sumner just as the clock ran down gave them the momentum and a 71-59 lead going into half-time.

Larry Bird steals the show
The loudest cheer on the night was reserved for NBA legend Larry Bird who was introduced during a time-out just before half-time, as the crowd rose to their feet and chants of ‘Larry’ engulfed the arena.

Kings stayed in contention through strong play from Fox, Buddy Heild and Dewayne Dedmon but Pacers continued to rake up the points in the third quarter, as Jeremy Lamb and JaKarr Sampson rose to the occasion, and took a hefty 96-79 lead going into the final quarter of the game.

The final quarter of play on the weekend saw the Kings trying to catch up, but the Pacers were just too strong on the night.
