New Kabaddi begins today at Balewadi

PUNE: The Indo-International Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL) will begin its first-ever campaign here at the Boxing Hall at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Monday.

Home side Pune Pride will lock horns against Haryana Heroes in the opening match after a brief opening ceremony. Balewadi Stadium will host 20 games before the league will head to Mysore and then Bengaluru for rthe Final leg.

Eight franchisees will be battling it out for the championship title and a total prize purse of Rs 4 crore over a period of 23 days. 

“I am excited and cannot wait to start the tournament tomorrow onwards. I am looking forward to our first game tomorrow and we are sure about not leaving any stones unturned to ensure victory for us,” said Dalbir Malik, Captain, Pune Pride. 

Haryana Heroes, Captain, Amit said: “A second legue for Kabaddi is a good thing to happen. We have so many talented players in India and a league like this will only allow all the players to find nerwer platforms to showcase their talent and also attain valuable match time.”

The live broadcast of the league will start from 7:00 PM onwards on DSPORT (English) whereas MTV and MTV HD+, DDSPORTS & Polimer Music will broadcast it in Hindi from May 13th 2019.
