New English School registers victory

Pune: New English School Ramanbaug registered a thumping 95-run win over Priyadarshani School & Jr College to make it to the next round of Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics boy’s cricket in progress at ILS Law College ground here on Thursday. 

Angel High School Uruli Kanchan, Global Indian International School Chinchwad, Dr Kalmadi Shamrao High School Erandwane were the other notable victors in the cricket event on NCL Campus ground and Law College ground.

For Ramanbaug, Anish Adkar and Samarth Kalbhor had a dream opening partnership, posting 140 runs in just 8 overs to present a daunting target to Priyadarshini School. In reply, Priyadarshini were restricted to 45/8, claiming a thumping 95-run win for New English School, Ramanbaug.

Global Indian International School, Chinchwad propelled in match of the day, as they beat Millennium National School, Karvenagar on the last ball of the match. Needing moderate 82 runs to win in 10 overs, Global International School were always on track of the total owing to Preshit Tamhane’s composed knock. They however, were taken to the wire with a gritty display from the Millennium National School, taking the contest in the last over.
 
Meanwhile, Sahil Shrivastava’s quickfire 40 were instrumental in setting up Dr Kalmadi Shamrao Highschool’s 9-wicket win over Vidya Vinay Niketan Eng Med School, Wakad.
