Maharashtra Cricket Association to hold elections on October 2

Pune: The Maharashtra Cricket Association is to follow suit of the other Associations and hold a fresh election on October 2, the BCCI appointed Election Officer JS Sahariya said on Thursday.

The results for the same would be declared later on the same day, meaning the Pune based State Association would have new set of office-bearers and Apex Council members in a week’s time.

Sahariya further informed that the election would be held for 18 members of the Apex Council and 5 office bearers. 

The application process for the same would begin on 28 September and 29th September would be the last of the application submission.

After scrutiny and other processes, the election would be held on October 2 from 9 in the morning till 2.

The result would is to be declared at 2.30. That will be followed by General Body Meeting, which will propose the election for the five office-bearers to be followed by that.

The Supreme Court in the first week of September allowed the MCA to hold elections to elect its office bearers.  Riyaz Bagwan, as a sole elected member of the body, oversaw the day-to-day running of MCA for two years.

The election on October 2 would be held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium at Gahunje.

The election for the five office-bearers would be for the post of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary and the Treasurer.
