Pune: Janana Prabodhani Navanagar Vidyalaya, Nigdi and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Camp registered convincing victories on the opening day of the cricket event of Mapro Presents Sakal Schoolympics, being played at the NCL Ground, Pashan here on Monday.
Janana Prabodhani thumped Mahesh Vidyalaya by 10-wickets, while Kendriya Vidyalaya won by 50-runs to set the tone for the tournament.
In the first match, batting first, Mahesh Vidyalaya managed to put up 60/5 in their 10 overs with Manav Khakhar top scoring with 19. Ijas Joshi was the pick of the bowlers for Janana Prabodhani as he picked up two wickets giving away just 10 runs.
Chasing 61, Janana Prabodhani surpassed the target was achieved in 7.5 overs, with Ameya Shevale (17*) and Aditya Jadhav (16) remaining unbeaten, while the rest of the runs coming as extras.
In the second match, Kendriya Vidyalaya scored a mammoth 109 for 2 in 10 overs against Agrasen High School, courtesy of Hemant Kumar’s unbeaten 57 in just 34 balls, an innings laced with nine fours. Kumar stitched an opening stand of 93-runs with Himanshu, who scored 23 runs.
In reply, Agrasen could only muster 59-4 with Dhiraj scoring unbeaten 20.
