Indira College, APS Pune, Vidya Niketan, Nagarvala enter semi-finals

PUNE: Indira College of Commerce and Science, Army Public School, Pune, Vidya Niketan High School and Dr. (Mrs.) Erin N. Nagarvala School scored victories in their respective quarterfinals to enter the semifinals of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament at the AISSMS Shri Shivaji Preparatory Military School ground on Friday.

In college boys’ category, Indira College of Commerce and Science secured a 4-1 victory over D.Y Patil Knowledge City. A brace from Sharon Kakde (7th, 40th) and a goal each form Shantanu Shivraj (27th), Shubham Potghan (53rd) were enough for Indira boys to advance into last-four stage.  

In the senior boys’, a brace from Nayan Bhandaikar helped Army Public School edge out Spicer Adventist University 3-2 in a keenly contested affair.

For Spicer, Daniel Paul (1st) scored the quickest goal of the day. Nayan (13th) helped APS level the scores and added another in the 23rd minute to give his team a 2-1 lead.

After resumption, Aaron Lalpekthuama (49th) netted the equaliser for Spicer. With the score locked 2-2, Ankur Rai (55th) struck the winner to ensure APS a semifinal berth.

Boys: Senior: Army Public School, Pune bt Spicer Adventist University 3-2.
College: Indira College of Commerce and Science bt DY Patil Knowledge City 4-1.
Girls: School: Vidya Niketan High School bt Sinhgad Spring Dale Public School 1(2)- 1(1); Dr. (Mrs.) Erin N. Nagarvala School bt Millennium National School 5(0)-4(0).
