Pune: Golden Guest gave jockey P Trevor an armchair ride to a widening one and a quarter length pillar-to-post victory in the FD Wadia Trophy on a day when punters had a tough time with not single favourite obliging out of a card of six races at the Pune Race Course here on Saturday.
Golden Guest, trained by Dallas Todywalla, faced no opposition at all and looked comfortable all the way. Second favourite Mzilikazi could not keep up the pace in spite of coming up with a sudden burst at the 100M mark and finished second followed by Mirabilis, who ran an impressive race coming in a far off third and Storm Breaker finished a long way behind in fourth place
Favourite Trouvaille, ridden by A Sandesh and trained by SK Sunderji, finished a poor fifth.
The bay colt Golden Guest is owned by Mukul Sonawala, DR Thacker of DT Racing and Breeders LLP, SR Sanas and Jehan Sataravala.
Omen strikes from Race 1
At the conclusion of the first race, which was won by In it To Win It, a rank outsider, the punters took this as an omen and it truly summed up the day for them.
A small field of 5 runners took the field in the Rajaram Chhatrapati Trophy in which Adhirajsingh Jodha-trained In It To Win It completed the formalities and won by a margin of four lengths.
The five-year-old gelding took command at 200m closely followed by Sagittarius and Valegro.
Coming into the straight In It To Win It was brilliantly jockeyed by A Sandesh, who managed to push the gelding to its limits, and win comfortably from Sagittarius followed by Valegro.
In It To Win It is owned by Hemant S Dharnidharka, Dinesh G Virwani and Adhirajsingh Jodha.
