Gargi in line for a double

Pune: Gargi Pawar of Maharashtra put herself in line for a double crown as she made it to the singles finals before lifting the doubles title in the Girls event at the Om Dalvi Memorial All-India Ranking Under-18 tennis tournament at Maharashtra Police Tennis Gymkhana on Thursday.

It was a fruitful day for the State players as unseeded Akanksha Nitture upset Sudipta Kumar 6-3, 6-4, while fourth seeded Gargi shocked second seeded Bela Tamhankar 6-2, 6-4 to make it to the summit clash.
Later in the girls Doubles final, Gargi tied up with the fellow Maharashtra player Bela to beat Paavanii Paathak and Aaira Sood 6-1, 6-4.

The doubles winners got trophy and 25 points while runners-up got trophy and 20 points. 
Boys section will see title clash between fourth seeded Aryaan Bhatia and unseeded Mohit Bondre of Gujarat.

In the semifinals Aryaan upset second seeded Denim Yadav of MP 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, while Bondre defeated top seeded Sushant Dabas of Haryana 7-5, 6-1. 

In the boys doubles, Sushant Dabas teamed up with Assam’s Udit Gogoi to score a 6-2, 6-3 title win over Aryaan Bhatia and Denim Yadav.

Boys Under-18: Mohit Bondre (Guj) bt 1-Sushant Dabas (Har) 7-5, 6-1; 4-Aryaan Bhatia (Mah) bt 2-Denim Yadav (MP) 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
Doubles:
Final: Sushant Dabas and Udit Gogoi bt Aryaan Bhatia and Denim Yadav 6-2, 6-3.
Semifinals: Aryaan Bhatia and Denim Yadav bt Rajesh Kannan R S and Udit Kamboj 4-6, 6-4, 10-3; Sushant Dabas and Udit Gogoi bt Aditya Balsekar and Kartik Saxena 6-3, 6-2.
Girls Under-18: Akanksha Nitture (Mah) bt 1-Sudipta Kumar (Mah) 6-3, 6-4; 4-Gargi Pawar (Mah) bt 2-Bela Tamhankar (Mah) 6-2, 6-4.
Doubles:
Final: Gargi Pawar and Bela Tamhankar bt Paavanii Paathak and Aaira Sood 6-1, 6-4.
Semifinals: Gargi Pawar and Bela Tamhankar bt Sudipta Kumar and Akanksha Nitture 6-3, 1-6, 10-7; Paavanii Paathak and Aaira Sood bt Sai Diya Balaji and Prachi Bajaj 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.
