Pune: Nagarvala Day School got past Katariya High School 1-0 in Round 1 of the Under-17 category of the Inter-School Football Tournament being played at SSPMS ground on Thursday.
Farhan Shaikh scored the lone goal for Nagarvala Day School in the seventh minute, as they advanced to the second round.
In another match, Nirmala Convent School defeated P Jog English Medium School 1-0 with Akash Jadhav scoring the lone goal in the 18th minute.
Meanwhile, Stella Maris High School got past Sevasadan English Medium School 1-0 with Mohit Veer getting on the scoresheet by scoring in the 19th minute.
In another fixture of the day, Cygnet Public School defeated opponents Lokseva English School with the score reading 3-0. Kaif Hannure scored two goals in the fourth and 18th minute while Rajat Panhale added one in the 11th minute.
In the Under-14 action, Kroot Memorial School, defeated SVSI Secondary School, Khadki 3-0.
Sinhgad City School, Kondhwa defeated Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Paranjape School 1-0.
