Double crown for Dhamne in Panchgani

Top seeded Manas Dhamne wrapped a memorable week in Panchgani as he lifted a double by winning the Boys singles and doubles titles at the MSLTA Yonex Sunrise Hotel Ravine Under-14 National Ranking tennis tournament in Panchgani on Saturday.

Pune: Top seeded Manas Dhamne wrapped a memorable week in Panchgani as he lifted a double by winning the Boys singles and doubles titles at the MSLTA Yonex Sunrise Hotel Ravine Under-14 National Ranking tennis tournament in Panchgani on Saturday.

Dhamne, the sixth standard student of Bishops School, Camp set aside the challenge posed by the No 8 seed Skandha Rao of Karnataka 6-2, 6-1.

In the Girls final, second seeded Ruma Gaikaiwari outplayed fellow Maharashtra player Madhurima Sawant 6-2, 6-4  to 
lift the title.

Later in the day, Dhamne partnered with Aryan Shah of Gujarat to win the doubles title by beating the Karnataka pair Adith Amarnath and Skandha Rao 7-5, 7-5.

Saumya Ronde of Telangana and Ridhi Choudhari of Andhra Pradesh won the girls doubles title beating the Maharashtra pair of Pari Chavan and Kkaira Chetnani 0-6, 7-5, (10-6).

The winners were richer by 50 AITA points, while runners-up settled for 40 points.

Boys Under-14:
Final: 1-Manas Dhamne (Mah) bt 8-Skandha Rao (Kar) 6-2, 6-1.
Doubles: 3-Manas Dhamne (Mah) and Aryan Shah (Guj) bt 4-Adith Amarnath (Kar) and Skandha Rao (Kar) 7-5, 7-5.

Girls Under-14:
Final: 2-Ruma Gaikaiwari (Mah) bt Madhurima Sawant (Mah)6-2, 6-4.
Doubles: 2-Saumya Ronde (Tel) and Ridhi Choudhari (AP) bt 4-Pari Chavan (Mah) and Kkaira Chetnani (Mah) 0-6, 7-5, (10-6).
