Pune: Deccan Gymkhana ‘A’ and S. Balan Group scored wins against their respective opponents to enter the quarterfinals of the Late S. Balan Cup T20 Cricket Championship being played at the Nehru Stadium ground and Poona Club ground.

Deccan Gymkhana ‘A’ team continued their winning run and placed themselves in the knockout round. Deccan registered an eight wicket win over ACE Centre for Excellence and score their third win of the tournament. Harsh Sangavi was the star of the match, scoring 53 runs in just 26 balls with help of 5 fours and similar sixes. Deccan restricted ACE Centre for Excellence for 105 runs and chased successfully in just 12 overs and loss of 2 wickets.

In an exciting and hard-fought match, S. Balan Group managed to win over Poona Club as they entered the last 8 stage. Batting first, Poona Club scored 141 in 20 overs. Rounak Dholepatil (37), Kiran Deshmukh (24), Aryaman Pilley (25) and Shubham Doshi (25) chipped in to help their team put a smart total on board.

Meanwhile. Poona Club bowlers dominated by taking 7 wickets for 57 runs as Balan team was in deep trouble. Balan’s Akshay Jadhav took charge and scored 49 runs remaining not out along with Deepak Dangi who was not out on 37. Both these batsmen accounted for a partnership of 84 in 45 balls as they chased the target.
