City Club and Sigmay FC get into semifinals

Pune: City Club and Sigmay FC made it to the semifinals with identical 2-0 wins over KP XI and Strikers FC in the inaugural Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) Bicentennial football tournament, at the Ghorpadi Bazar football ground, here on Thursday.

Riding on a goal in each half by Kazi Mather (25th) and Nelsom Williams (49th) City Club got past KP XI in the first quarterfinal of the day. 

Later, Sigmay FC fought off the challenge of Strikers FC 2-0 after Lewis Remi (17th) and Sumit Bhandari (38th) struck a goal each.

In the U-17: Inter Schools section played concurrently, St Patrick’s rode on a hat=trick each from Gokul K. (6th, 17th, 36th) and Sherin K.( 9th, 22nd, 42nd) to score a one sided 7-0 win over St John’s HS. The opening goal was scored by Kartik M in the second minute.

In other matches of the section, Anglo Urdu H.S won a six game thriller against Ghorpadi Village HS 4 2. The architecht of the win was Jaki Sayyed who scored a brace.
