“I would like to keep in simple. This course suits my style of play,” said Aryan, who was playing on this par-71 course for the first time.

Pune: Aryan Roopa Anand weathered windy day with his minimalist approach that saw the Karnataka golfer sink three birdies and pick as many bogeys that helped him open up two-stroke lead going into the third round of the IGU-Maharashtra Junior Boys golf championship at the par-71 Poona Club golf course here on Wednesday.

Overnight joint leader Aryan, who finished his first round early before hail and rain lashed the course for over 20 minutes, said he was just lucky to escape the weather on Tuesday and content with what he could draw out on Wednesday.

“I would like to keep in simple. This course suits my style of play,” said Aryan, who was playing on this par-71 course for the first time.

Going into second round Aryan was tied with Raghav Chug and Shaurya Bhattacharya, but at the end of the day he made sure that he had enough leeway over his nearest challengers.

In the sole second place was Haryana’s Saurav Rathi, the only player who submitted under-par card on Wednesday thanks to his three birdies on the home stretch.

Tanmay Negi was best-placed Maharashtra player at sixth position with an aggregate of 7-over 149.

Milind Soni led the field in Category B with 142.

Maharashtra’s Aryaman Singh was within striking distance in Category C after he carded back-to-back rounds of 76 for a total of 152. Karnataka’s MG Mithil led the field with 150.
