Archers Das and Bisla fail to make the cut

Jakarta: Incheon Asian Games bronze medallist compound archer Trisha Deb and Sangampreet Singh Bisla failed to make the cut for the Women’s and men’s main events respectively as both finished at identical 19th place, in the ranking round here on Wednesday.

However, both Indian Men and Women teams were placed second for the Asian Games quarter-finals as powerhouse Korea topped the ranking round. India with their high world ranking were already through to the quarters with a first-round bye and this round was to decide the placement of the teams in the draw based on their rankings. India found themselves in the bottom half with Korea in the upper half.

In the men section Abhishek Verma was placed fourth with a total of 704, in the women section Jyoti Sureka Vennam took the second spot in the individual rankings with 706 points, just one less than top-ranked Yinsuhan Chen of Chinese Taipei.

Muskan Kiran finished ninth with 691 points, while Madhumita Kumari was 11th with 689. The three will be part of the team event. Trisha Deb,  who managed 683 points, was placed 19th and out of competition. The Indian team tallied 2085 points behind Korea, which created a Games record of 2105. World Archery ranks Indian women  ahead of Chinese Taipei (No 2) and Korea (No 4) on the basis of the performances in the World Cup events.
