PUNE: Raju Nageshkar fired his way through despite incessant showers to win the first leg of the Oxford Medal Round Golf tournament 2019 by two points from Samir Ambegaokar, at the picturesque Oxford Golf Resort here on Sunday.
Conceptualised by Golf Trotters, an association of 180 amateur players, who put together self-financed four-ball tournament, this five-round event has received support from the Oxford Golf Resort as a hosting club.
Playing in the Silver Division wherein golfers with handicap 0 to 18 took part, Nageshkar scored 41 stableford points, while Samir Ambegaokar tallied 39 to finish runner up.
The Bronze Division title went to Arindam Ghosh, who too scored 41, while Nikhilesh Joshi (40) ended runners-up. Ghosh’s win was special considering he had been on a long expedition to Himalayas and returned recently and took part in this brand new concept of golf.
