10 International riders and 3 FMX stuntmen make 2017 National Supercross best ever

PUNE: Team TVS Racing maybe looking to seal the overall title in National Supercross championship, but the year could belong to privateer Mahesh VM of Thrissur, who is in line for National titles in three classes on his Hero Impulse as Indore gets ready to host the penultimate round of the MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Supercross Championship, on Saturday evening.

Championship leader Harith Noah of TVS Racing is leading the SX1 Foreign Expert Class on his TVS RTR300 with 150 points, 10 ahead of CD Jinan of Thrissur as Dusserra Maidan in Indore got all ready with one of the longest supercross track ever made in India.

Besides the 10 supercross riders, there will be three FMX riders who will perform breathtaking stunts for the motorcross fans.

“We had two stunt riders last year, but Godspeed decided to better it by getting more this time, one Callum Shaw from New Zealand, the other Gabriel Villages from Chile and Shawn Webb of Australia, who is here again,” informed Shyam Kothari, former National Champion and Director of Godspeed Racing, the organiser of the event.

Dussera Maidan is one of the most popular destination in Indore and a huge open space has given the organisers freedom to make longer track.

The track measure about 750-800 metres with 24 jumps and fast turns, a big joker lane and 75-feet long table top finish that gives a breathtaking view to the finish line audience.

As regards to the competition, Noah, who returned to competitive racing after a hiatus of a few years, will be hoping to cement his place going into the final and season-ending round in Pune on December 2.

Pune’s Rugved Barguje too has a chance to finish in top three if he finishes ahead of seasoned Javed Shaikh of Goa. Javed is on 85 points, while Rugved has 78 going into the penultimate round in the SX1 Expert Class.

MAHESH HOPES OF TRIPLE
Thrissur-based Mahesh VM leads Class 2 Novice Group C, Class 5 Indian Experts and Class 6 Private Experts and if he wins here in Indore, he could hope to collect three National titles in Pune on December 2.

YUVRAJ HEADS JUNIOR SX
Pune’s Yuvraj KondeDeshmukh is the championship leader in Junior SX class, 13 points ahead of Cochin’s Aadil Correya. Kondedeshmukh, who riders KTM 85SX has 78 points to Aadil’s 67. Another Pune rider, Karan Karle is on No 3 position with 52 points with two rounds remaining in the season.
