Zero waste project launched in Aundh

PUNE: Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) along with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have initiated a zero waste project covering Aundh ward office area.

A workshop was held recently regarding the same to bring all stakeholders on one page to achieve coordination, understand challenges and solutions.

The workshop started with an overview of the project and sharing findings of survey results. Participants validated the data sets and gave inputs to strengthen the data. They presented their challenges and possible solutions to make composting successful. A draft work plan of 3 months was also discussed.

Peaking over the project, PMC Solid Waste Management Officer Dnyaneshwar Molak said, “The project aims to cover ward number 8 and 9 which comprises Aundh along with Baner, Balewadi, Bopodi and Pashan areas to promote 100 per cent composting. The idea is to promote each society and household to process their waste daily. We will also keep data of how much waste a society or a household generates and from that how much of it is being processed.

“This will help us as well, as the load on PMC’s garbage processing plant will reduce. We are also promoting Reuse, Reduce and Recycle,” he added.
