Yukrand to intensify stir against builder Kakade

Pune: Yuvak Kranti Dal (Yukrand) has intensified their agitation against builder Sanjay Kakade for the rehabilitation of 50 families that were displaced from New Kopare village in 2000. Yukrand, which is fighting for the rehabilitation of the families for last 17 years, has decided to hold a  protest march on every Monday till the families are rehabilitated.

“So far, they have held 28 protest marches against the builder who had assured to rehabilitate the displaced families, but has failed to do so,” said secretary of Yukrand Sandeep Barve. “We have been arrested for 25 times till now, but still have not lost hope. Kakade had made an agreement in 2001 that 400 families will be rehabilitated after he took up the project at this village. So far, 350 families have been rehabilitated in Kakade City on Karve Road, but now, Kakade is creating an issue on rehabilitating these 50 families to Kakade City.”

“As Kakade is reluctant to rehabilitate these 50 families, we will carry out protests on every Monday and the protests have already started from November 6 at Good Luck Chowk. A rally was conducted on November 13 at Alka Talkies Chowk and on Monday at PMC building. On November 27 the protest will take place at PMC building and will continue it in prominent city areas till the families are rehabilitated,” Barve said.

Barve further added, “We have also written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and have requested an urgent meeting on the issue as it is pending for 17 years.”
