Youth cheats over 30 people in black magic fraud, arrested

Pune: A 21-year-old youth from Rajasthan was arrested on Saturday by officials of the Pune city police cyber police station for allegedly cheating over 30 people across the country under the pretext of removing black magic spells.

The police identified the arrested person as Shubham Setia of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan. He used to post YouTube videos to lure people for solutions to their problems. 

A housewife lodged an FIR against him with Kondhwa police for allegedly cheating her of Rs 1.06 lakh. There was a dispute in her family which often led to quarrels. After watching his videos of providing solutions with his ‘supernatural’ powers, she approached him. After realising that she had been cheated, she complained to the police. 
The police said the accused worked at a call centre. He started making videos and posting them on YouTube. 

DCP (Cyber & Economic Offences Wing) Sambhaji Kadam, ACP Shivaji Pawar, Senior Police Inspector Jairam Paigude guided the investigating team which included PSI Ravindra Gawari and constables Aslam Attar, Shirish Gawade, Harshal Dusane and Shubhangi Malusare.
