Youth arrested for duping wealthy IT women via matrimony sites

In a bizarre incident, a 31-year-old youth was nabbed after luring wealthy women on matrimonial sites. The youth, who under the pretext of marriage, targeted rich, IT women and then cheated, robbed as well as blackmailed then to extort money from them.

The arrested person has been identified as Aniket Surendra Bubane (31), a resident of Balajinagar in Dhankawadi. A case has also been filed with Bibewadi police station against him.

Acting on the grievances of women who were lured to him via matrimonial sites approached the Pune city police crime branch after they were duped by Aniket. The Crime Branch (unit 5) later investigated the case based on their complaints.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime branch) Bacchan Singh said,  "We had received a number of complaints against Aniket. Based on this our team probed to find that one case was registered in Bibewadi, where a woman from a wealthy family was duped by him to pay Rs  1.75 crores.

Under the false promises of marriage, he duped the women by claiming that his business was running in losses and that he would require these finances to recover from the debt.

Later after extorting money from her, he fled.  In a few of the cases, we came to know he extorted money via blackmailing these women by threatening to defame them on social media. Some women also gave him money or jewellery to assist him financially ."

He added, "We then noticed that he was the suspect, and based on this we zeroed down all the women after referring to his profile on the site.
We got in touch with his former girlfriend, who assured to help us to lay a trap for him. He responded to her calls and decided to meet her, and we were able to nab him in Baner. We recovered Rs 97 lakh and a car that was estimated Rs 1.08 crore."

Speaking to Sakal Times Inspector Datta Chavan said, "Aniket is highly educated and has completed his MCA. He has four profiles of his on such sites and has only targeted women from wealthy families or women from an IT background. He also owns a restaurant of his own. Chatting with women on such sites, he demanded money for the recovery of his debt. Aniket later developed relationships and blackmailed them if these women asked for their money back."
