Woman molested in Nigdi in broad daylight; 1 held

Pune: In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old woman was molested in broad daylight in Akurdi on Thursday. A case in this regard has been registered at Nigdi police station.

The police arrested the accused who was identified as Sagar Paramane (40), a resident of Bijli Nagar in Chinchwad.

Paramane works with a private firm in Chinchwad.

Vijay Kumar Palsule, Police Inspector, Nigdi police station, said, “The incident occurred around 11.30 am on Thursday at a footpath near Satguru Auto Garage in Akurdi. Paramane forced himself on the complainant who was walking on the footpath. He forcefully kissed her and groped her.”

“We have arrested the accused who is trying to act as if he is mentally unstable. But as per our the investigation, we have found that he is perfectly normal and to get away from his crime he is pretending to be unstable.”

The police have registered a case under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (Sexual Harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 354B (Assault or use of Criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of Indian Penal Code against the accused.
