PUNE: In an event organised on Friday, Wipro launched Internet of Lighting (IoL) solutions in its ‘Light Show 2018’ for smart and connected indoor and outdoor lighting. With this technology, end users will have enhanced the user experience, intelligence and functionality into lighting systems and deliver desired outcomes.
This technology will allow people to capture data like occupancy, space utilisation in offices, energy consumption, etc, designed for smart cities. Anuj Dhir, Vice-President and Business Head, Wipro Commercial Lighting Business, said, “From Internet of Things (IoT), we progressed to IoL. It will prove productive for smart cities, as it is designed especially to adjust lighting condition for employees working in shifts. Also, it can save energy up to 70 per cent, as the lighting sensor detects the number of people entering the room or conference hall and controls the intensity of light accordingly in the room. The lighting sensor automatically switches off when nobody is present in the room.”
He added, “This technology has only one plug connection, which will carry both data and current. It can be managed by a tablet, a mobile phone or can be centralised depending on the user preference. We have introduced this technology in commercialised sectors only.”
He said that through this technology, streets could also be made safe and energy efficient. These lamps can be fitted with street lights. They can detect the number of vehicles on a street. Accordingly, they will light up to the optimum level.
