Pune: The government is committed to developing an electronic cluster hub in Pimpri in the coming years, Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad announced in Pune on Sunday.
He was in the city to attend ‘Samvad’ programme organised by Lawyers Association, which was held at Harshal Lawn in Karve Nagar.
While addressing a press conference later in the day, Prasad, who also holds the additional charge of Electronics and Information Technology Ministry, added that this cluster in Pimpri will help boost the economy of the country.
Prasad also claimed that maximum investment from Central government in Maharashtra has been in the agriculture sector and that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has also increased under Fadnavis’ regime in
Prasad defended allegations about the economic slowdown in the country, saying that India’s economic development has boomed under the BJP government’s tenure.
“Around Rs 70,000 crore was invested in the banking sector; 10 public sector banks have been merged, which has boosted our Indian economy,” he added.
Prasad staunchly defended Modi government’s move to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and blasted the Congress party, saying that people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered because of Congress for the last 70 years.
The minister further added now that BJP government has abrogated Article 370, it will provide opportunities to the people of the Union Territory and 106 Central government laws will be applicable there and around 40,000 youths will join the Indian Army.
