Wardha man travels 650 km to break into a house at Vadgaon Maval; arrested by local crime branch

Pune: Wardha police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a 'house break-in' crime committed in Wadgaon Maval area of Pune district. The suspect allegedly travelled 650 kilometres to commit this crime.

The suspect has been identified as Ajay Surkas Pawar alias Dudy (20) and is a resident of Hinganghat - an area in the Wardha district. Pawar along with his accomplice Ramachari Biskit Pawar (22), a resident of Wasmat in Hingoli, has been arrested by the local crime branch sleuths from Wardha. The duo has been charged previously in cases of dacoity, robbery, and house break-ins at various police stations in the state including Hingoli, Wasmat, Vadgaon Maval, Pune, Ardhapur and Wardha.

According to police, a man named Hatim Akbar Khan (52), who is supposed to be a meat shop owner from Wardha, had registered a complaint at Wardha city police station regarding a house break-in incident on July 4. Another complaint was filed by a mobile repair shop owner Manish Ashoklal Nagdev (36), from Dayal Nagar in Wardha on July 6. In both these incidents, the suspects had broken the lock of the shops' doors and gained access inside.

The Local Crime Branch of Wardha police were investigating the two crimes which were committed within a span of few days, using the same modus operandi, when they received a tip about a person coming to the Itwara area in Wardha to sell some stolen items.

Thus, with the help of local staff, the police set a trap and nabbed the two suspects.

When police interrogated the suspects, they confessed to have committed similar thefts at various locations in the state. Pawar told police that he had travelled to Vadgaon Maval in Pune district and committed a house break-in crime. Police have seized cash worth Rs 18,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 20,000 from the suspects. The suspects have been handed over in custody of Wardha city police for further interrogation.
