Waitlist for May railway tickets crosses 200

Waitlist for May railway tickets crosses 200

PUNE: After the Railway Protection Force (RPF) cracked down on e-ticketing scam recently, it was expected that tatkal tickets will now be easily available to the common man, however, people are still facing problems while booking tickets online.

The passengers wanting to book railway tickets online for travelling in May are getting waitlisted.

When the tickets were being booked for places like Patna, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur and Manduadih, it was found that the waitlist for sleeper class had already crossed 200 and AC coaches touched 50.

Getting a confirmed seat during vacation months is a tough task due to the high rush of passengers. The railway officials are claiming that this is because of high demand for the trains during summer vacations.

“The passengers going to the northern cities from Pune are always in demand during summer vacations. There is only a single train which runs daily and other trains run weekly. The load of the passengers shifts to only one train,” said a senior officer from the Pune Railway Division.

The Railway Protection Force had recently busted a racket which linked to Nepal, Bangladesh, Dubai and Pakistan ISI. The culprits would slow down the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website using illegal software to book online railway tickets. The racket was busted in January and similar cases of illegal softwares were busted in February this year.

After this, it was claimed that the tickets will be easily available for passengers, but the situation still remains the same.

The officer said, “Whenever summer vacations start we (railways) always run special trains.”
