Unaided schools will protest on Feb 25

Pune: The Independent English Schools Association (IESA), in collaboration with many other organisations of unaided schools, will be observing a Statewide protest on February 25. All the schools under the Federation of Schools Association, of which IESA is also a part, will remain shut on the day.

Like last year, the reimbursement of fees against the 25 per cent admissions under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act continues to be one of the major causes of the protest.

Rajendra Singh, President, IESA, said, “Like last year, Unaided Forum and Private Unaided Schools Management Association (PUSMA) will also be participating. An association from Vidarbha will also be participating this time, thus making our protest truly pan-Maharashtra. We demand that the reimbursement to the schools from the year 2012 till 2019, should be paid completely with immediate effect.”

One of the other demands of the Association also includes implementation of a Schools Protection Act for the schools in the State.

While the protest of the private unaided schools delayed the RTE admission process last year, interestingly, even this year, the protest is being held on the same day the online application process for RTE students for 2019-20 begins.
