Two youths drown in Pavana dam

Pune: In a tragic incident, two youths drowned in Pavana dam here on Sunday morning. A rescue team comprising navy and police divers recovered the bodies of both the deceased.

The deceased were identified as Mohit Jadhav (28), a native of Jalgaon and Vedprakash Rana (28), a native of Nagpur. Both were employed as software engineers in a city-based company. They came along with seven others on a trip to Pavana dam.

According to the Lonavla police, nine people including three girls came to the tourist spot for a visit on Saturday. On Sunday morning Jadhav and Ajinkya Shinde got into the water to take a selfie while taking a bath. They didn’t have any idea about the depth of the water in the dam and started drowning. Seeing them in distress their friends Rana and Shubham Bummy came to their rescue, however, after entering the waters they themselves started drowning.

All four cried for help after which villagers came to their rescue and managed to save Shinde and Bummy, whereas Jadhav and Rana drowned.
