Two new fitness test tracks at Dive from Makar Sankranti

PUNE: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has given a gift to vehicle owners waiting to get fitness certificates on Makar Sankranti by providing two new fitness test tracks at Dive near Saswad. The tracks will be used for autorickshaws, tempos and buses. This will hasten the process of passing vehicles from 75 to 300 per day.

At present, 250 vehicles undergo the fitness test on a single track at Dive. Around 75 vehicles clear the test everyday. The owners, whose vehicles have to undergo the fitness tests, have to apply online for appointments. Currently, there is a waiting list of one month and most vehicle owners do not get an appointment.

"The long waiting period issue will be resolved as the two new tracks will be made available from Sunday. There will be three testing tracks now. All heavy vehicles will be inspected on these tracks from January 14," said Sanjay Raut, Deputy Regional Transport Officer.

"Only 75 vehicles can be tested per day due to the lone track, which is not sufficient. The waiting list was increasing everyday. In the past two months, only 10,000 vehicles underwent the test. The two new tracks are ready and we are ensuring that the waiting list is reduced. We will try to pass 300 vehicles everyday. Besides, officials are trying to clear more vehicles on Saturdays and Sundays," said Raut.

BETTER FACILITIES SOON
"The RTO is working on vehicle owners' demands for adequate facilities such as drinking water, toilets, seating arrangements, sheds, etc, at the Dive test track centre. They will be made available soon," said Sanjay Raut, Deputy RTO.
