Two killed, 24 injured in accident at Tamhini Ghat

Pune: A tourist bus carrying 26 passengers, which was travelling to Konkan,  toppled over in the Tamini Ghat, killing 2 people on Saturday. . A 53-year-old woman and a man died in this mishap The incident took place between 2.30 am and 3 am.
 
The deceased have been identified as Sanjivani Sathe (53), a resident of Aundh, and Yogesh Pathak, a resident of Navi Peth. The passengers - Poonam Lande, Harshvardhan Lande, Daksha Jadhav, Riyansh Jadhav, Rishi Jadhav, Rishikesh Kondhalkar, Shital Kale, Vishal Kale, Laukik Kale, Smita Suryavanshi, Reshma Jadhav, Pushpa Kondhalkar, Balasaheb Pawar, Tanishka Gofne, Manik Kale, Nivritti Sathe, Angha Jadhav, Anil Pavle, Prabha Pawar, Vidhita Jadhav, Shravani Pathak and driver were injured. Arya Kelkar (16), resident of Warje, informed the police.

As per the police information, all of the victims are relatives and friends. They hired a private minibus from Pune and departed at 1 am for Kalshi, Konkan. At around 2.30 am, the bus driver is suspected to have lost control over the steering. Due to this, the bus lost its course after crossing a small bridge near Vandan Hotel in Tamhini Ghat and overturned. The impact was such that two persons died and 24 persons were left injured. 

A bypasser informed the police about the road mishap. In some time, a team of Paud police station rushed to the spot.

The injured persons were admitted to a hospital in Paud for treatment. Three persons including the bus driver received severe injuries. A team led by Police Inspector Ashok Dhumal is investigating the case.
