Two killed, 11 injured as a  Shivshahi bus rams into truck

PUNE: A Solapur-bound Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Shivshahi bus rammed into a truck during the wee hours of Friday. In the accident, two people, including the driver of the bus and a passenger died while 11 passengers were injured.

The accident took place at 4.10 am at Shetphal, taluka Mohol on Pune-Solapur Highway. The bus (MH47Y 2050) departed at 12 am and was on the way to Solapur. There were 16 passengers in the bus.

In the accident, the driver Nitin Laxam Kamble (25) was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead while Mallikarjun Ambuse (72) died on the spot. All injured were taken to the government hospital, Solapur for treatment,” said Vilas Rathod, Divisional Transport Officer of MSRTC, Solapur. 

According to the Mohol police, the Shivshahi bus departed from Pune. The truck (MP 9 HD 2258) was ahead of the bus. The driver lost control and rammed into the truck and hit a milestone.

According to MSRTC official, the bus belonged to a private contractor Bhagirath Travels. As per report it was due to the driver’s fault that the accident happened. Full report will be presented to the divisional transport office.
