Traffic diversions in city on Saturday for palkhi

Pune: Traffic on some of the major roads is likely to be affected on Saturday as the palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj are set to arrive in the city. Traffic will be diverted from the procession route to avoid inconvenience to the pilgrims.

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi will start from Inamdar Wada in Dehu on Saturday and will halt at Vitthal Mandir in Akurdi. It will pass through Old Pune-Mumbai Highway and traffic will be halted as the palkhi passes by. The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will start from Alandi and halt at Gandhiwada on Saturday.

No vehicles will be allowed between Dehu Phata to Bhakti Shakti Chowk. Vehicles heading to Pune from Dehu Road can use the Dehu-Katraj Bypass road to reach their desired destination and vehicles heading towards Mumbai from Pune will have to take a right turn from Khandoba Mal to Thermax Chowk and then head towards Dehu Road.
No vehicles will be allowed between Durgadevi Chowk to Tilak Chowk and Mhalsakant Chowk to Tilak Chowk. Vehicular traffic will be closed while the palkhi is passing by on old Mumbai-Pune highway between Nigdi and Khandoba Mal Chowk.

Vehicles heading from Nigdi towards Pune can go via Bijli Nagar, Chafekar Chowk to Mahavir Chowk. Similarly, vehicles heading from Khandoba Mal Chowk to Nigdi can go via Chafekar Chowk and Bijli Nagar area.
