Thane Police Chief conferred award in city

Pune: ‘Pride of Maharashtriya Mandal’ award was conferred upon Vivek Phansalkar, Thane Police Commissioner at an event held in the city on Monday evening. Present at the event, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray criticised migrants from other states.  “Today, many migrants from other states enter cities across Maharashtra, but because of Maharashtra Police law and order is still maintained in the state,” Thackeray said. 

The ‘Pride of Maharashtriya Mandal’ award is being given in the memory of late Ramesh Shivram Damle.. 

This prestigious award comprises cash prize of Rs 11,000 and a memento. Vivek Phansalkar is an alumnus of Maharashtriya Mandal and is a 1989 batch IPS officer. While receiving the award he recalled his days at this institute. “I and my family are emotionally attached with this institution. Though this is an English medium school, Marathi traditions and customs are followed here,” he said.
