Teachers Recruitment Creates Confusion

PUNE: Over 100 candidates for teachers’ recruitment for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools protested outside the state education commissioner’s office in Pune on Monday.

These candidates have been selected through Pavitra Portal and the candidates stated that while Maharashtra government has been claiming that 5,822 recruitments have been completed, however, this is not the case.

“In 2017, an examination was held by Pavitra Portal for teachers’ recruitment in the State and the results of which were declared in August 2019. Around 5,822 candidates were selected under this. Further, the selected candidates were called for document verification at different centres across the State,” said one of the candidates on the condition of anonymity.

“The Maharashtra government has claimed that the recruitments of all 5,822 teachers have been completed through Pavitra Portal,” he added.

"This number includes 130 candidates who have not received any appointment letters since then. After selection, many candidates left their previous job expecting they would soon be recruited by the government. Now, they have been jobless for the past three months," he added.

He further informed that on August 16, few appointment letters were given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State School Education Minister Ashish Shelar at Palghar, while the rest were to be sent via email.

"Around 483 candidates were recommended by the State Government, but only 35 were given the appointments and as many as 448 candidates did not receive any appointments," said the candidate.
On this, State Education Commissioner Vishal Solanki said, “The recruitments are still under process. We have been communicating with the BMC about the advertisements and roasters of teachers’ recruitments.”

“It is a misunderstanding that all the recruitments were completed. I have explained the candidates about this and we are still underway through the recruitment process. There are some technical glitches due to which the process has slowed down. It will be resolved soon,” Solanki told Sakal Times.

“A total of over 12,000 vacancies were declared by the State government. “We have declared the results for 5,051 posts so far. There are more three-four rounds to be completed which are likely to be over by this month or within two months. There are different rounds for Urdu medium, BMC schools, recruitments of teachers for Std 9-12 in private schools etc. These rounds will be updated and cleared soon, I am intending to complete the recruitment process by this month or by December end,” Solanki added.
