Teachers’ Tinkering Fest on Nov 9-10

PUNE: As part of their recent activities to train pre-primary teachers, the Early Childhood Association (ECA) of India has organised ‘Teacher’s Tinkering Fest’, at Elpro International School, Chinchwad on November 9 and 10.

Around 250 participants across the country will participate in this one and a half-day workshop. Both parents and teachers from across Pune and the nearby cities will take part in various expert-led sessions where all materials and resources will be provided.

This workshop will give an opportunity to teachers, parents, preschools, balwadis and NGOs to showcase ideas and innovate new skills in experiential learning.

Early Childhood Association (ECA) President Dr Swati Popat Vats said, “Experts will conduct activity-based sessions to teach academic concepts using engaging methodologies under five areas like drama, outdoor activities, test, art, and music.”

“It is our endeavour to encourage teachers to become ‘Makers’ and not ‘Doers’ rather than just ‘listeners’,” she added.

ECA Territory Head of Pimpri-Chinchwad Chapter Lucky Surana said, “The new study experience and innovation with their ideology will help teachers gain more ideas for teaching. For instance, the idea of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education is growing day by day. We have to mould our children towards positive sides of technology and not letting them get addicted to screen.”

Surana further informed, “The teachers will not be judged for their language skills but will be taught how innovatively and interestingly they can make their students learn.”
