MUMBAI: On the first day of the budget session on Monday, the State government tabled supplementary demands of Rs 24,723 crore for 2019-20 in the State Assembly.
Under it, Rs 15,000 crore are earmarked for implementation of the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule farm loan waiver scheme.
Besides that, the government also made provision of Rs 476 crore for Pune Metro under the allocation of the Urban Development Department (UDD).
The government has announced the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojna to make the State farmers debt-free.
For this scheme, the government has already made available Rs 10,000 crore from contingency funds.
On Monday, the government further proposed a supplementary demand of Rs 15,000 crore for the scheme. The government has collected information of 35 lakh farmers in the State and their loan account. In the supplementary demands, the government has proposed
Rs 3,533 crore for the revenue department and Rs. 3,431 crore for disaster response. The government had made a provision of Rs 1,969 crore for the Public Works Department (PWD), where Rs 435 crore have been allocated for the building of roads and bridges.
For the industry department, Rs 1,477 crore have been earmarked. For the Food and Civil Supply Department, Rs 351 crore have been proposed and Rs 679 crore have been proposed for the UDD where Rs 476 crore have been earmarked for Pune Metro.
