Pune: A student of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) wrote a letter, threatening to commit suicide, after the head of the department (HoD) allegedly accused him of watching porn in the department’s computer room.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 4 pm. Following this, around 11:30 pm, the student wrote the ‘suicide note’. However, any undesirable incident was prevented as the student’s friends immediately contacted the police after they found the letter.
The student, as well as the HoD, were summoned to Chatuhshrungi police station. While initially, a complaint was lodged against the professor, it was later resolved mutually with the intervention of the police.
While there has been a doubt that whether this was staged to trouble the students, as the Internet in the university is controlled and porn websites cannot be accessed by the students. Also, students have to use the Internet by logging in through their user ID and password.
However, after assurances from the HoD that the student wouldn’t be troubled over this, the complaint was taken back.
